THUG CARROT

Mixed Media Sculpture | 2012-2023

2x2x8

This sculpture was inspired by a sketch I did back in high school.

My buddy Curtis commissioned a tattoo design from me that same year. He always liked the carrot sketch and has been half-joking half-seriously threatening to get it tattooed on him if I don’t deliver a real design. I still haven’t, but I made this sculpture as a gift and a way to hopefully hold him off until I do.

I also built a small frame for the original drawing and sent the whole package off to him 2 months later than I intended. This was a project over 10 years in the making though so what’s another two months?

I used sculpey for the base and painted it with acrylic. The bandana is an old shirt breast pocket that just happened to fit perfectly around his face. I used wire wrapped in green tissue paper and mod podge for the stem.
